Miranda Chappel-Farley
University of Pittsburgh
Postdoctoral Scholar
I am a postdoctoral scholar in the Center for Sleep and Circadian Science at the University of Pittsburgh. I received my PhD in Biological Sciences from the Department of Neurobiology & Behavior at the University of California, Irvine. My research broadly focuses on how sleep and other lifestyle factors interact to influence cognition and brain health. By combining neuroimaging techniques, physiological measurements, and behavioral assessments, my research aims to determine the mechanistic role of sleep and physical activity and fitness in brain dynamics and memory function, with the goal of developing lifestyle interventions to delay or prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Given the heterogeneity in both the pathology and symptomology of Alzheimer’s disease, I am also interested in the biological and sociological contributions to individual differences in cognitive outcomes and Alzheimer’s disease risk.
