Assistant Professor

I am an Anatomy professor at the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey Campus and a co-investigator at the Medical Sciences Campus. Brain injury has multiple log-term sequalae, including social, emotional, motor and somatosensory impairments. My research is focused on how pain centers in the brain and midbrain are affected after a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) event. I use a rat model of closed head injury (CHI) and histological approaches to identify potential neuronal changes causing pathological pain.
